Our homemade plasticine (play dough) / Recepta per a fer plastilina

Aitana loves plasticine and, in fact, I also do!! I love the touch it has, I like to squeeze it in my hands, and I love the fact that you can easily do it at home with natural products. Here is my recipe:
-200 ml of water
-200 ml of plain flour (it will help if you sieve it)
-100 ml of salt
-3 tablespoons of oil
-1 tablespoon of Cream of Tartar (you can use bicarbonate instead. See this blog.)
-5 (or so) drops of glycerine
-Food colouring. (You can also use natural colours out of natural ingredients. See here)

I haven't tried the bicarbonate (I don't know if it is as good preservative as the Cream of Tartar). But I can tell you that this playdough lasts for weeks (even months!!) if stored in the fridge.

Molts besets.

  2. You can use other ingredients besides Cream of tartar. For example, look at this link: http://www.naturalparentingtips.com/creative-play/no-cream-tartar-playdough-recipe/

Also, thank you, Cris, for the link you posted at THH. We actually received a doorway swing for the kids from my folks for Christmas which serves similar purposes, but that one definitely looks cooler. If I ever get my basement and garage cleared out, I will have to consider enlisting help to make similar.

    1. Thanks for the info, Martianne. Aluminium!!! I didn't know Cream of Tartar contained it. Yuk!! I have to make more playdough again. I'll definitely try this recipe.

It's good to have a basement and garage. If I had one, I'd also have it full of boxes and boxes of clutter. I hope you can someday find the time/help/inspiration/ to clear it out. Let me know then and make me envious, hahahh!!
